This image is taken directly from an article my father sent back to the NME whilst on tour with The Clash. The design for the London Calling LP taking shape in his and fellow readers minds.
The idea to do a print out of this image stems from a seed that planted itself into my good friend Gordon's creative mind, back when he was helping to create the London Calling Scrapbook for the 40th Anniversary edition of the album.

I shall pass you over to Gordon for a little more insight:

"I first met Samuel Lowry (Ray Lowry's son) in 2019 while I was collating THE CLASH LONDON CALLING Scrapbook and Exhibition. Johnny Green got me in touch with him and soon after I was on my way to Blackpool to meet up. Our first meeting was short & sweet ,he handed me six of his father's original sketch books from The Clash's second 1979 North American tour. Ray was drawing and painting the band as they played live on stage and had a job with the NME to do weekly diary tour reports then sending them back to the UK to be published. The fact Samuel trusted me with such important artistic & family heirlooms said a lot for how we instantly became close friends. The inclusion of The Lowry sketch  books became a key part of THE CLASH LONDON CALLING Scrapbook and Exhibition along with Pennie Smith's photographs and the bands personal archive material.
" THE CLASH ELVIS PRESLEY ALBUM" 2025 originally drawn by Ray Lowry in 1979 and used in his NME diary tour reports. As history tells us this drawing was the inspiration that led onto the infamous LONDON CALLING album cover. In fact Johnny Green told me Ray had bought THE ELVIS PRESLEY album at a second hand store in Chicago during the 79 tour and would sleep with it propped up at the foot of his bed."
