Original Cartoons

Ray was mostly recognised for his work as a cartoonist, honing on his unique style he carved out a career that spanned nearly four decades. Among many of his publication avenues were Punch, Private Eye, The Spectator, NME, Tatler, Mojo, Vox, The Observer, The Independent and The Guardian.

Dipping his Gillott nib into a pot of Indian Ink he produced content ranging from the Nazis to the Blues. You would be hard pressed for his satirical genius and social commentary not to leave a lasting imprint on your mind.

Writing in New Society Simon Frith once wrote on Ray’s jokes about the music industry and describes him as "A jaded rock ‘n’ roll fan….. cynical and angry…. Lowry’s real hate-figures aren’t businessmen but the Sunday Times bourgeois pop person"
